Piano concepts taught by Julie
The Student and Tutor conducted an initial piano lesson, assessing the Student's existing knowledge of note reading, chords, and scales. They practiced several pieces from the "Piano Adventures Accelerated for Older Beginners" book, focusing on intervals, clefs, note values, and pentascales. The Tutor adjusted the planned curriculum based on the Student's demonstrated proficiency and assigned practicing challenging sections from the book for the next lesson.

Extended Octave Notation (8va)
The Student demonstrated their piano playing skills, revealing prior experience but a need for review in music reading and coordination. They practiced sight-reading exercises and discussed strategies for tackling new pieces, including breaking them down by hand and understanding key signatures. The Tutor assigned three practice pieces and pentascales, with sheet music to be sent, and also offered to find the music for "Für Elise."
