Preston - Get to know your vocal coach

I'm Preston Lydotes – I'm a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and teacher from Nashville, TN. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Berklee College of Music in fall 2024, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a dual major in Songwriting and Independent Recording & Production, and a minor in The Business of Live Music. I have 9+ years of vocal training – specializing in pop, rock, folk, jazz, country, and R&B. In my lessons, you'll learn how to healthily transition between vocal registers, breathing techniques, and how to best support your voice. My lessons also include music theory for those who are curious and confidence-building for those who are looking to take the big stage! In addition to teaching, I'm an active performer and recording artist, having played stages across the East Coast both solo and with a band. I regularly release original music and, in 2025, I was honored as a recipient of Portsmouth Music Hall’s Emerging Artist Award and a three-time New England Music Award nominee. I'm passionate about creating a supportive, fun, and motivating learning environment where students feel empowered to sing and play with confidence, develop healthy technique, and unlock their full artistic potential—no matter their experience level.

The tutor and student focused on vocal technique, including warm-ups for chest and head voice, and exercises for pitch accuracy. They analyzed the student's singing of "Hey There Delilah," addressing vocal range, octave jumps, and breath support, and discussed strategies for vocal cool-downs and emotional expression in performance.
