Torianne - Get to know your vocal coach
As a student of voice, the most important thing I have learned is that singing is a skill - not just a talent. Once the voice is organized, anyone can learn to sing in any style. (You may not believe me, but I started at NYU not even being able to mix, and now I am able to belt up to a G5 and whistle up to an E♭6.) This growth was possible because of the classes I took at NYU. I received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Musical Theatre. Some of these classes included voice pedagogy, song analysis/performance, and music theory/aural skills. Through these skills, I have worked Off-Broadway and all over NYC, and I would love to share this knowledge with others. I specialize in musical theatre singing. I can help you with your Golden Age repertoire all the way to your beltiest of belts! I have also cross-trained in classical and contemporary styles. I am a master at helping people find repertoire to sing. You want a new song? Give me a vibe, and I will send you options. You have an audition coming up? I’ve got you covered. All of my friends come to me to help them pick out what’s right for them. I believe in a holistic approach to the voice—first organizing the instrument through vocal exercises, and then transferring those skills into repertoire. My goal is healthy, sustainable singing that is also joyful. Most importantly, I believe the student knows best, because they are the only one in their body. I can offer feedback based on what I see and hear, but only you can tell me how it feels. Together, we can figure out how to make singing feel good for you.
