VATSAL - Know your tutor
I have been passionate about teaching from a young age and believe I possess the qualities of a good teacher, such as strong communication skills and the ability to explain concepts with ease. I completed my BSc (Hons.) in Mathematics, MSc in Data Science, and later earned an International Vedic Maths Trainer certificate. With over four years of tutoring experience, I have taught nearly 100 students and received excellent feedback. I also hold an MSc in Mathematics and continue to tutor high school and university students. My teaching focuses on simplifying concepts, encouraging problem-solving, and inspiring students to enjoy mathematics. I adapt my methods to individual learning needs and aim to build confidence along with strong conceptual foundations, helping learners achieve their full potential. Class overview
I offer tutoring sessions on Math to high school and university graduates. My tutoring sessions are generally detailed and tailored to the needs of the students. Apart from tutoring, I also help my students with their assignments, homework, and test preparation. I always take regular feedback from my students and parents and also give my feedback on the students’ performance, so that the tutoring sessions are effective for the learner. I focus on building conceptual clarity, encouraging problem-solving, and making mathematics enjoyable through real-life examples and Vedic Math techniques. I also adapt my methods to different learning styles and ensure that every student feels confident, motivated, and supported in their learning journey. Mathematics concepts taught by VATSAL
The Tutor and Student worked on calculating the area of non-right-angled triangles. They practiced applying the sine rule and cosine law, along with basic trigonometric ratios, to find missing sides and the height of triangles. The session concluded with the student planning to practice similar problems independently.
Basic Trigonometric Ratios (SOH CAH TOA)
Direct Area Formula for Triangles
Sine Law vs. Cosine Law
Area of Non-Right Triangles using Trigonometry
The tutor and student reviewed and solved complex mortgage calculation problems, including loan amortization, interest rate conversions between compounding and payment frequencies, and property valuation using capitalization. The student practiced applying financial calculator functions and formulas to these scenarios, with a focus on understanding the methodology behind each step. They planned to continue practicing similar problems to reinforce understanding.
Effective Annual Interest Rate Calculation
Monthly Mortgage Payment Calculation
Loan Balance Calculation (Future Value)
Capitalization Rate and Property Valuation
The tutor and student reviewed concepts related to financial mathematics, focusing on interest rate calculations, conversions between nominal and effective rates, and understanding different perspectives (borrower vs. lender) in loan scenarios. They worked through several practice problems using a financial calculator and discussed strategies for identifying multi-step calculations.
Nominal vs. Effective Annual Rates
Interest Rate Conversion: Matching Principle
Financial Calculator Usage: Borrower vs. Lender Perspective
Depreciation: Land vs. Building
The tutor and student reviewed several financial math problems involving mortgages and investments. They practiced using a financial calculator to solve for loan amounts, interest rates, and balances due at closing, and discussed strategies for comparing different investment yields based on compounding frequencies. The student plans to continue practicing these concepts.
Compound Interest and Compounding Periods
Loan Calculations: Maximum Loan Amount
Reverse Annuity Mortgage (RAM)
Nominal vs. Effective Annual Interest Rates
The student and tutor worked through financial mathematics problems using a financial calculator, focusing on future value and loan amortization calculations. They practiced inputting data, understanding negative values, and solving multi-step loan scenarios, with plans to review mock test performance in the next session.
