Thea - Know your tutor
I am Thea Maestrecampo, with over 5 years of experience teaching Mathematics. My expertise covers from elementary to middle school math such as basic math, pre - algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, probability, statistics, pre - calculus, and even basic calculus. I always prioritize my students' personalized learning experience such gamification and math tricks. Of course, I also consider the parent's request such as improvement of grades, homework help, mastering math concepts, and preparation for exams - even advancing them. I always include assessing the student first, giving them practice drills with math tricks along the way, and making sure they appreciate the lesson and enjoying the class as well. I also worked with students who had different learning needs that includes difficulty in learning attention, comprehension, and processing information. With these experiences, I learned how to break down the tasks into smaller and manageable parts, used simple instructions, and incorporated interactive tools online to help them understand the Math concept even better. Overall, all of these experiences strengthened my ability to be emphatic, creative, and student - centered. Now, I value inclusivity and student - centered learning.

Mathematics concepts taught by Thea
The Student and Tutor reviewed homework on angle relationships, including corresponding and supplementary angles, and then introduced the concept of congruent polygons. They practiced identifying corresponding angles and sides, solving algebraic problems to find unknown values within congruent figures. Homework was assigned to classify triangles by their angles after calculating unknown variable expressions, applying the triangle angle sum property.
Reviewing Angle Relationships & Calculations
Understanding Congruent Geometric Shapes
Identifying Corresponding Angles and Sides
Sum of Interior Angles in a Triangle (180° Rule)
Solving for Unknowns in Congruent Polygons Algebraically
Classifying Triangles by Angle Measures
The tutor and student worked through geometry problems involving angles, focusing on setting up and solving algebraic equations for unknown variables. They reviewed concepts of supplementary, complementary, and vertical angles, and the student practiced applying these definitions to find angle values. The homework assignment involves further practice with these concepts and identifying other angle relationships like alternate interior and corresponding angles.
Supplementary Angles
Complementary Angles
Vertical Angles
Applying Algebra to Geometry
The Tutor and Student reviewed core geometry concepts, including parallel and perpendicular lines, and the four types of angles formed by a transversal. They practiced identifying these angle relationships and calculating unknown angle measures, including examples with algebraic expressions and angles within polygons. The Student was assigned homework to reinforce these concepts, which will be checked in the next session.
Defining Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
Transversals and Angle Identification
Properties of Angles with Parallel Lines
Algebraic Applications in Angle Measurement
The student and tutor reviewed the multiplication of radicals, drawing parallels to algebraic operations with variables. They practiced multiplying radicals with like and unlike radicands, and also covered the initial concepts of dividing radicals and rationalizing the denominator. The plan is to continue practicing these operations in the next session.
Distribution with Radicals
Dividing Radicals and Rationalizing the Denominator
Multiplying Radicals: Same Radicand
Multiplying Radicals: Different Radicands
Multiplying Radicals with Coefficients
The tutor and student worked on simplifying radicals and performing addition and subtraction with radicals. They practiced breaking down numbers into their factors, using perfect squares, and combining like terms in radical expressions. The tutor prepared the student for future topics like multiplication and division of radicals.
Simplifying Radicals
Adding and Subtracting Radicals
Perfect Squares and Their Role
The Student and Tutor engaged in a mathematics lesson focused on radicals, including square roots, cube roots, and nth roots. They covered the conversion of fractional and negative exponents into radical form and practiced simplifying radicals of non-perfect numbers. The session concluded with plans to continue learning these concepts in future classes.
