Zach - Know your guitar teacher
Hello, my name is Zach Khoury. I have vast knowledge of music (guitar, piano, bass, and singing) and a few years under my belt working as a teacher. I worked as a diverse learning teacher for 3 years, and have been teaching music for about a year now privately. Working with diverse learning students taught me so much about what it means to teach someone. It helped me understand that not everyone learns the same, or percieves the world the same. So its important to keep an open mind and be willing to adjust your approach accordingly to each indiviudal student. As far as music goes I have been gigging professionally for 5 years, and have an eclectic style of playing. I specialize in a wide array of subjects including fingerstyle, blues, chords, music theory, picking styles, technique training and I am comfortable teaching all levels of students. Guitar is the insturment I am the highest level at, but my first instrument was piano which I am able to teach as well. Along bass guitar and singing I offer my students a unique way learning, and insight on what it takes to play live shows and be a giging musican. Lasltey, I love bringing a positive attitude to my lessons with me. I love music and feel a responsibiiltiy as a musican to share my knowledge and help others learn about this wonderful craft.

Guitar concepts taught by Zach
The tutor and student reviewed blues scale shapes and arpeggios, then introduced and practiced a new Stevie Ray Vaughan guitar riff. The student was assigned to continue practicing the riff and blues scales in different keys, with plans to learn accompanying chords and transpose the riff in future sessions.

The tutor and student reviewed several guitar chords, including C major, D, E minor, and A minor, and practiced strumming. They then worked extensively on forming and executing bar chords, focusing on proper finger technique and clarity of sound. The session concluded with a brief introduction to harmonics and pentatonic scale exercises.

The student and tutor worked on guitar techniques, starting with arpeggios and progressing to horizontal pentatonic scale shapes (both minor and major). They then delved into the A minor blues scale, focusing on the correct placement of flattened fifths within various positions and practicing improvisational soloing within these scales. The student was assigned to continue practicing these shapes.

Student and Tutor focused on guitar techniques, reviewing major and minor arpeggio patterns, including a specific adjustment for the B string. They extensively practiced ascending and descending arpeggios and revisited all five pentatonic scale shapes. The session concluded by introducing and practicing the first two blues scale shapes, emphasizing the characteristic flat fifth note, with homework to practice these concepts using backing tracks.

The Student and Tutor practiced complex guitar arpeggios, including minor and major shapes, and revisited root notes. They also worked on the first two blues scale shapes and learned a blues riff based on the 145 progression. The Tutor will provide all five blues scale shapes for the Student to practice during their upcoming travel, suggesting using an acoustic guitar for advanced training.
