Joseph - Know your guitar teacher
I have experience teaching guitar to beginner adults and children with a patient, encouraging, and structured approach that builds confidence from the very first lesson. I use Alfred’s Basic Adult Guitar Method to develop fundamental skills, including reading notation and tablature, chords, rhythm, strumming patterns, scales, and basic music theory. For younger students and beginners who prefer an interactive approach, I also incorporate Simply Guitar to reinforce concepts through engaging exercises and guided practice. I tailor each lesson to the student’s age, learning style, musical interests, and goals, whether they want to play favorite songs, accompany themselves while singing, understand guitar theory, or eventually perform. My goal is to make guitar accessible and enjoyable while establishing solid fundamentals for continued growth. I emphasize proper technique, consistent practice, musicality, and measurable progress while keeping lessons positive and motivating for everyone. I teach proper hand positioning, simple chord transitions, and how to build rhythm and timing. We focus on songs they enjoy to stay motivated, I offer gentle feedback, celebrate small wins, and help them gradually add more chords, refine strumming patterns, and play with expression. Whether you’re brand new or returning to the guitar, lessons are personalized, supportive, and designed to make learning both effective and fun.
