Mary Jean - Know your tutor
I am an online Mathematics tutor with a Diploma on Master of Arts in Mathematics Education with specialization in Secondary School teaching has been teaching for a face to face classroom setup for almost a decade now. I have taught in Elementary teaching 1st, 2nd and 5th grade as Mathematics teacher for 2 years and currently, I am a Mathematics teacher handling 7th and 8th grade. My expertise lies in teaching Algebra, Geometry, Probability and the likes. I have also an experience tutoring Mathematics and ELA for Elementary and Middle schoolers from LATAM. Althroughout my teaching, I have been an advocate of learner-centered designing personalized instruction for students with varies learning interests. I am flexible in terms of pacing based on students learning capabilities. The use if interactive tools such as whiteboards, online quizzes, graphing tools, video and gamified learning is also one of my expertise. This will help learners feel more excited and motivated in learning. I make it a point that lessons are concretize by applying them in real life situations. I guide learners instead of dominating the lesson. If students are facing difficulty, I break lessons into pieces to make sure that mastery of the lesson is achieved.

Mathematics concepts taught by Mary Jean
The tutor and student reviewed topics related to radicals and real numbers, including simplifying square and cube roots. They then focused on solving various types of linear equations, practicing multi-step problems and algebraic manipulations. The next session will likely cover the substitution method for solving systems of linear equations.
Simplifying Radicals
Solving Linear Equations
Systems of Linear Equations (Graphing)
Fractions in Algebra
The student and tutor worked through various problems involving systems of linear equations. They reviewed methods for solving these systems, including elimination, substitution, and graphical interpretation, practicing algebraic techniques and integer operations. The tutor suggested reviewing integer operations in the next session based on observed difficulties and will ask the student to provide upcoming topics from their classes.

Integer Operations
The tutor and student reviewed trigonometric identities, including the difference of squares and Pythagorean identities. They then delved into finding polynomials from their zeros, applying the Complex Conjugate Root Theorem and practicing polynomial multiplication. Finally, they worked on calculating the difference quotient for rational functions, which involved algebraic simplification and understanding function notation. The session concluded with well wishes for the student's upcoming exam and graduation.
Verifying Trigonometric Identities
Zeros of Polynomials: Complex Conjugate Root Theorem
Difference Quotient and Function Notation
The Tutor and Student reviewed trigonometric identities including reciprocal, quotient, and Pythagorean identities. They practiced simplifying trigonometric expressions by rewriting them in terms of sine and cosine and applying algebraic manipulations and identities. The session involved working through multiple practice problems.

Pythagorean Identities
Trigonometric Simplification Techniques
Reciprocal Identities
The Tutor and Student worked through problems involving double angle trigonometric identities and indefinite integrals using trigonometric substitution. The Student practiced applying these identities and methods to solve specific mathematical problems, and they discussed the steps for converting the final integral solution back into terms of the original variable.

Indefinite Integrals with Trigonometric Substitution
Trigonometric Identities in Integration
The Tutor and Student reviewed trigonometric graphs, focusing on the properties of sine, cosine, and tangent functions, including their periods and asymptotes. They practiced graphing the tangent function and derived trigonometric identities, specifically expressing secant in terms of sine and cosine in a given quadrant. The session also included solving a right triangle problem using SOHCAHTOA, converting radians to degrees, and finding missing angles.
