My name is Duncan Lee. I have over 7 years of teaching experience (both in person and virtual), teaching guitar, bass, piano, and vocals. I have written curriculum for music schools, gotten students ready for college auditions, I've taught professionals, etc. I have a Bachelor's degree in composition and took jazz guitar, piano, and voice lessons through the duration of that (and then some after as well). I have an adaptable teaching style to how people receive information, whether it's fun, paper based, song based, rigorous, etc. I have a strong background in music theory and try to incorporate that early on despite the students preferred learning style. I think self suffience is the most important thing, so I try to teach about improvisation, the building blocks to music, if a student is interested about writing, and recording, and creating a unique style. At my prior music school I curated and directed shows regularly with the more elite students, and also re wrote the curriculum for the beginner or rudimentary students. I think a goal based approach is a big necessity, giving people achievable milestones and providing a sense of accomplishment I think really fosters enthusiasm and self motivated progress.
