I'm Sam Bierman, a music instructor and performer with over 7 years experience offering lessons in singing, piano, ear training, music theory, Pop, Classical, Jazz, and improvisation. I've taught beginners and advanced students and tailor lessons to suit each student's needs. I'm based in Los Angeles, CA where I grew up and am among lots of working professionals in the music industry. My methodology is being approachable and encouraging - I want every student who studies with me to enjoy participating and trying music, and hopefully develop a solid foundation and understanding of the concepts, and perhaps explore their own creativity. I teach all different genres of music depending on what the student wants to learn, and I recommend developing a strong knowledge baseline of music theory (scales/chords/arpeggios/harmony), being able to read music (or at least working on the skill), ear training - hearing notes and rhythms and being able to identify them, and having a basic survey of a variety of different styles. Initially, I will want to evaluate your skill level and needs in order to create a lesson/development plan. There are various books I can recommend as well as materials I can supply directly.
