I'm Ian Cannon, a music tutor with over 5 years of experience teaching multiple age ranges. My specialty is songwriting, music theory, and repertoire. I fine-tuned my lesson plans to suit a beginner all the way up to intermediate, regardless of age. I am very comfortable adjusting my style based on the needs and wants of the client and am open to teaching any concept of interest as long as there is passion and a goal they want to meet. No matter the genre, style, or goal, I always prioritize meeting people where they are at. While progression achieved in a timely manner is a priority, nothing is more important than providing an engaging environment that fosters a love for music and guitar. I have experience with both online and in-person tutoring, and know the technical struggles of learning an instrument that come with both formats. I strive to make the process as smooth as possible by using a scaffolding method where we build upon what we already know to become excited for what we can learn. I will teach songs, exercises, original compositions, and many, many more areas of music so the learner has a full idea of what this magical art form has to offer.
