Mark - Know your guitar teacher
I am a guitar instructor with a strong musical foundation across multiple contemporary styles, including rock, R&B, gospel, pop, modern rock, ambient, and cinematic guitar. My playing blends expressive phrasing, dynamic tone, and strong rhythmic awareness, allowing me to adapt to both energetic band settings and atmospheric, texture-driven music. I enjoy exploring the full sonic range of the guitar. from powerful, driven rock tones to spacious ambient soundscapes that support modern worship, film-style compositiond music. My influences and playing style draw from the expressive lead work of rock and modern rock guitar, the groove and phrasing of R&B and gospel music, and the layered textures often heard in cinematic and ambient guitar. This combination allows me to approach the instrument with both technical precision and a strong sense of musical storytelling. As a teacher, I focus on helping students develop a well-rounded understanding of the guitar while encouraging creativity and confidence. My lessons emphasize practical skills such as rhythm playing, lead guitar phrasing, tone shaping, improvisation, and understanding how guitar functions within a band or recorded mix. I tailor my teaching approach to each student’s interests and goals, whether they want to play modern worship music, learn expressive rock guitar, develop R&B chord vocabulary, or create atmospheric ambient textures. In addition to teaching, my experience in recording and audio production allows me to help students understand tone, gear, and how the guitar fits into studio and live performance environments. My goal is not only to teach students how to play the guitar, but also to help them develop their own musical identity and confidence as musicians.
