Asha’s Piano Time! Piano lessons for beginners and intermediates looking to gain new skills.

As a piano teacher with over five years of experience, I have taught many students aged 4-15. My piano journey started over ten years ago and I have my Grade 5 theory and Grade 8 practical. I teach my students theory alongside practical work, so that they learn how to write music, which helps with their playing. I tailor my lessons for each student but whether for beginners or intermediate students, my goal is to teach my students how to read music and play songs that they enjoy! Some of my students have learnt songs from ABRSM lists, in preperation for exams, and others play for fun. I effectivley communicate with my students and their parents to discuss what they would like to get out of their piano lessons and what they are most interested in learning. This builds a strong foundation for all lessons going forward. My number one priorty is for my students to have fun whilst playing and to understant the basic components of music, such as: notation, rhythm, timing, dynamics, articulation and sight reading. I generally use flashcards and whiteboards throughout the lessons to really engage with my students and help them visualise music theory and make learning more fun! I set homework each week and will help and reach out to my students if they are struggling with the homework.
