Hi! I’m Iver Sanchez, an acoustic and electric guitar tutor pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Technology from Stevens Institute of Technology. I offer beginner to advanced guitar lessons for students and adults, with 10+ years of experience as a trained guitarist, vocalist, and musician. I teach several styles of music, from pop and R&B to jazz, blues, rock, and metal. My specialties lie in rhythm and lead playing, chord progressions, general music theory, scales, fingerstyle, and several other mindblowing techniques on the guitar! As a private guitar instructor, I’ve taught many students over the course of 2 years. Some of them were around 5 years old, some were pushing their mid 60s! I find that tailoring my teaching style to the needs of students is what helps them learn best! What you can expect of me, as your tutor, is a warm and welcoming environment where you can share your creativity and skills. I will always provide constructive advice so that you can hone your craft to the best of your capability while having a great time! Guitar concepts taught by Iver
Student and Tutor had a guitar lesson where they reviewed blues scales, focusing on adding the blues note and understanding chromatic movement. They practiced various picking techniques, including alternate, economy, and sweep picking, and applied them to power and barre chords. The session also included a deep dive into the history and styles of blues music (Delta, Texas, Chicago) and the origins of R&B, followed by rhythmic chord practice with ghost notes and initial instruction on proper fingerpicking posture. The Tutor planned to send follow-up songs for inspiration.
