Hi, I’m Jess Wood, a piano tutor with a Bachelor’s degree in Music and over three years of teaching experience, offering personalised piano lessons tailored to each student’s goals and learning style. I’ve been playing the piano for 14 years and have achieved my Grade 8, which has helped me build a strong technical and musical foundation. I specialise in teaching chord theory, scales and arpeggios, and performance skills, helping students build a strong and well-rounded musical foundation. By focusing on chord theory, I help students understand how music is structured, allowing them to recognise patterns, play more confidently, and even begin to improvise or create their own music. Scales and arpeggios are also an important part of my teaching, as they develop finger strength, coordination, and overall technique, making it easier for students to play pieces smoothly and accurately. Alongside this, I place a strong emphasis on performance skills, guiding students on how to play with expression, confidence, and musicality. My aim is to ensure that students not only learn how to play the piano correctly but also understand the music they are playing and feel confident sharing it with others. I work with students of all levels, from children and complete beginners to intermediate and advanced players.
