Anson Tang is a classical pianist, he first received professional training from his study in the Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, supported by an ABRSM scholarship. He also earned a DipABRSM after learning from ABRSM examiner Ruth Slater in piano teaching. Anson also has a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Toronto, where he studied with Midori Koga. He worked as a piano instructor in the piano pedagogy program and served as an adjudicator for the Spring Music Festival 2025. Anson has great experience in piano teaching with 8+ years and his students consistently achieve strong examination results, he also prepares students for undergraduate music auditions at the university level. Anson is familiar with ABRSM and RCM exam board where he uses various teaching materials to teach students from all ages. For complete beginners he believes that fundamentals such as posture/hand shapes/ rhythm are the key for any beginner to proceed to the next level. Intermediate level students focuses on even more critical skills such as pedaling and pulse making alongside with some knowledge on composers in order to have the right idea to interpret works. Advance level students work on multitasking and reflecting on what can be changed, hacks and ways to overcome a particular difficult passage.
