Anthony - Your piano teacher
I’m Anthony Miles, a performing pianist and singer-songwriter with over 30 years of live performance experience in bands and as a solo artist. I’m particularly passionate about Boogie Woogie and rhythm-driven piano styles, and I love helping students develop groove, confidence and musical personality at the keyboard. As a qualified teacher with years of experience, I combine practical musicianship with solid foundations in chord theory, ear training and performance skills. Whether you're a beginner building confidence or an intermediate player wanting to add energy and character to your playing, I tailor lessons to your goals. If you’re interested in Boogie Woogie, blues-inspired piano, or learning to play with more freedom and expression, I’d love to work with you. My aim is always to make lessons engaging, practical and musically rewarding.

My teaching approach is practical, performance-focused and rooted in real musicianship rather than purely academic study. I believe students learn best by playing music they genuinely enjoy while gradually building strong foundations in rhythm, timing and musical feel. I place particular emphasis on groove and stylistic confidence, especially in areas such as Boogie Woogie, blues-inspired piano and rhythm-driven playing. Developing a strong left-hand foundation, coordination and improvisational freedom is something I actively work on with students from early on. Alongside creative playing, I integrate chord theory, ear training, technique development and performance skills in a way that feels usable and relevant at the keyboard. Rather than overwhelming students with abstract theory, I connect concepts directly to songs and practical exercises so they can hear and feel what they are learning. Lessons are always tailored to individual goals, whether that means building beginner confidence, refining technique, preparing for live performance, or expanding improvisation skills. My aim is to make learning structured, engaging, and musically rewarding while helping each student develop their own expressive voice at the piano.
