Precious Ann - Your piano teacher

Music, for me, is more than just learning notes and chords. Learning a musical instrument is a way of expressing emotions, building confidence, and discovering one’s potential. I believe that music is a gift from God, and sharing this gift with others is something that truly makes me happy. My name is Precious Ann Gabarda, and I am a passionate piano tutor who enjoys teaching and helping students learn. I have been playing the piano for over ten years and have several years of face-to-face teaching experience, mainly with children and young people in a church setting. I started teaching piano when I was still in Grade 10, and from then on, I realized how fulfilling it is to guide others in learning music. Most of my experience focuses on beginner students, where I teach proper finger placement, basic chords, rhythm, and note reading. My faith plays an important role in my journey as a music teacher. I believe that my talent is a blessing from the Lord, and I want to use it to inspire and serve others through music. Seeing my students improve, gain confidence, and enjoy learning brings me genuine happiness and fulfillment. I am patient with my students and understand that everyone learns at a different pace. I aim to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable learning and making mistakes. Although I have not yet taught online, I am eager to learn and adapt to online teaching. Teaching music brings me joy, especially when I see my students grow and enjoy the learning process.

Piano lessons at a glance

My teaching methodology is student-centered, patient, and adaptable, especially for beginners and young learners. I believe that learning music should be enjoyable, encouraging, and well-structured. I start by understanding each student’s level, learning pace, and goals so I can adjust my lessons according to their needs. For beginners, I focus on building a strong foundation in basic music theory, including note reading, rhythm, scales, and simple chords. Proper finger placement and posture are emphasized early to help students develop good habits and confidence in playing the piano. Lessons are taught step by step to avoid overwhelming students and to ensure steady progress. I use repetition, simple exercises, and familiar melodies to help students understand and remember concepts more easily. I encourage students to ask questions and make mistakes, as I believe mistakes are part of the learning process. Positive reinforcement is an important part of my teaching style, as it helps motivate students and build their confidence. Since I have experience teaching face-to-face, I value clear demonstrations and guided practice. I am also open to adapting my teaching methods for online lessons by using clear explanations, visual demonstrations, and structured lesson plans to maintain engagement. Overall, my goal is not only to teach students how to play the piano, but also to help them enjoy music, develop discipline, and gain confidence through learning.
