Brian - Know your guitar teacher

Hi, I’m Brian — a professional guitar instructor with a Bachelor’s degree in Guitar Performance from the Peabody Conservatory and a Master’s degree in Guitar Performance. I’ve been teaching since 2016 at Bel Air Music Studios and Music & Arts, working with beginners through advanced players of all ages, including adult and older learners. My teaching style focuses on what I call playable, intuitive, and visual theory. Instead of presenting music theory as abstract concepts, I help students apply ideas immediately on the instrument. You’ll see it, hear it, and use it within minutes. This leads to fast wins early on, while quietly building strong long-term musical independence. Over the years, I’ve published 200+ guitar arrangements through Hal Leonard, along with two guitar books — one a 105-page progressive song collection designed to build real notation literacy, and another a 144-page visual theory system created specifically for guitarists. My background in standard notation, tablature, chord diagrams, and structured layouts allows me to adapt material to each student’s age, goals, and musical taste. For online lessons, I use a professional multi-input DAW enhanced with DSP plugins connected directly to video conferencing software. This ensures clear, low-latency audio and a polished learning experience. I also use high-quality video capture so students can clearly see hand positioning and technique. Whether you’re just starting out, returning to guitar after years away, or looking to deepen your understanding of improvisation and theory, my goal is simple: help you feel capable quickly while building real, lasting skills.
