Edmund Jr - Get to know your vocal coach
My name is Edmund Jr Diesta, a 26-year-old music educator currently based in Sorsogon City, Philippines. With a lifelong background in choral music and instrumental instruction, I am passionate about sharing the technical and expressive joys of music with students of all ages. My journey as a musician has been deeply shaped by my time as a chorister with Imusicapella. This path has allowed me the privilege of representing our country on international stages, including the 2025 European Grand Prix for Choral Singing and the Baltic Sea International Choral Competition. These experiences have instilled in me a disciplined approach to vocal pedagogy, particularly in resonance and breath coordination, which I strive to pass on to my students in a clear and supportive manner. Beyond vocal coaching, I have a heart for ensemble work and foundational music education. I have found great fulfillment in leading Ukulele, Angklung, and Drum and Lyre groups, as well as providing individual instruction in Piano and Guitar. I believe in meeting every student where they are, focusing on building a healthy technical foundation while fostering a genuine love for the craft.

My teaching philosophy is built on the belief that music education should be as structured as it is inspiring. Drawing from my international choral experience and ensemble leadership, I utilize a multi-modal approach to ensure every student—regardless of their primary learning style—achieves measurable progress. 1. Multi-Modal Instruction (Visual, Auditory, & Kinesthetic) I believe that a concept is best understood when it is experienced through multiple senses. Auditory: I provide high-level demonstrations so students can hear the target tone, resonance, or rhythmic precision. Visual: I utilize anatomical diagrams for vocal students and fretboard/keyboard maps for instrumentalists to "see" the music. Kinesthetic: I guide students through physical cues—such as proper posture and hand placement—to build muscle memory. 2. Technical & Diagnostic Precision I approach the voice and instruments with a "clinical ear." My methodology focuses on identifying the physical "why" behind a musical challenge. Vocal Diagnostics: Immediate identification of soft palate position, laryngeal tension, and vowel modification to navigate the passaggio. 3. Child-Centered & Adaptive Approach Every student has a unique "musical language." I adapt my communication style to match the age and personality of the learner. For Younger Students: I use gamified rhythm exercises and imaginative metaphors (e.g., "the balloon breath") to keep engagement high. For Adult/Advanced Learners: I provide deeper technical explanations and encourage self-assessment to foster independence. 4. Organized & Goal-Oriented Structure To ensure consistent growth, every lesson follows a disciplined, organized framework:
