Hi, I'm Valery (Ellie-Mae is just my legal name)! I've been performing for much of my life, and a lot of that has involved singing. My area of expertise is musical theatre style singing, but I'm happy to try to help in other areas as well! While I may not have a long tutoring career, I will strive to make our lessons an enjoyable and educational experience. My goal with tutoring is to ensure that you are comfortable throughout the experience. Singing is fun; it is something humans have been doing since we began and it is something we will undoubtedly continue to do. I don't want to take something as fun as singing and make it a chore for you, so I am always open to hearing critiques and ideas you have for your lessons. Whatever style of music and singing you prefer, I'm looking forward to helping you! Here's to a fun experience where we can learn and grow together!

I aim for a relaxed style of teaching. Of course we will be putting in the effort to bring you an experience worth spending your time on, but I see no need to aim for the rigidity of a more traditional style of teaching. We will go over essential information, such as the parts of your body used in singing, and vocal warm ups. If you're interested, we can also discuss the history of musical theatre in particular (it's more exciting than you'd think!) I will be keeping notes on things as we progress, and will do my best to adapt lessons to focus on areas that need improvement while still keeping things fun for you through music choices. If you have any favourite songs, let me know and we can incorporate them! I believe in keeping things simple and that includes the tools we'll be using. No need to overcomplicate things when Zoom and Youtube can be your best friends!
