My tutoring experience has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. Teaching music allows me to share something deeply personal while helping students grow in confidence, creativity, and self-belief. As a PPA Music Teacher with Front Row Music , I teach whole-class lessons across primary schools, working with children from Reception to Year 6. I love the energy of the classroom and the challenge of keeping lessons engaging for every child. I use rhythm games, songwriting activities, listening tasks, and group performances to make learning practical and inclusive. My focus is always on making music accessible, especially for those who may not see themselves as musical at first. Seeing a shy child build the confidence to perform in front of their classmates is incredibly rewarding. Alongside classroom teaching, I run small-group guitar and ukulele sessions. These lessons allow me to give more individual attention and track progress closely. I encourage pupils to support one another and take pride in small improvements. Creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere helps students feel safe to try, make mistakes, and keep going. Private singing lessons are particularly important to me. As a classically trained singer with ABRSM qualifications, I understand how vulnerable singing can feel. In one-to-one lessons, I create a calm and supportive environment where students can explore their voice safely. We work on breathing, technique, posture, and performance skills, but we also focus on confidence and expression. Whether preparing for exams or singing for enjoyment, I tailor each lesson to the individual. , Above all, I see tutoring as building trust and helping each student find their own voice.

My teaching method is rooted in strong technical foundations, creativity, and genuine connection with each student. As a classically trained singer with ABRSM qualifications, I place great importance on healthy vocal technique. Breath control, posture, tone placement, diction, and vocal care are central to my lessons because I believe good technique gives students freedom and confidence in any style of music. Although my training is classical, I have a real love for jazz and pop, and this shapes the way I teach. I enjoy helping students move between styles, understanding the differences in tone, phrasing, and expression. Classical singing develops control and stamina, while jazz and pop allow for individuality, storytelling, and stylistic freedom. I encourage students to explore all three where appropriate, so they develop versatility as performers. We begin with targeted warm ups designed to build technique safely and progressively. From there, we apply those skills directly to repertoire. I carefully choose songs that suit each student’s voice and personality, ensuring they feel challenged but not overwhelmed. For students interested in exams, I provide clear goals and structured preparation. For those singing for enjoyment, I focus on confidence, interpretation, and connection to the music. I teach students how to practise effectively, break down difficult passages, and reflect on their progress. Rather than simply correcting mistakes, I guide them to understand how their voice works so they can problem solve independently. Above all, my teaching is supportive and encouraging. Singing can feel vulnerable, so I create a calm and positive environment where students feel safe to experiment, grow, and express themselves.
