Dear Hiring Manager, I hope this message finds you well. My name is SHERRY ANN A. BETE, and I am writing to express my interest in the Biology Teacher position at Wiingy. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education major in Biological Science and have two years of teaching experience in both junior and senior high school levels. During my tenure at Philippine Women's College, I was responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons, preparing laboratory activities, assessing student performance, and fostering a positive learning environment. My passion for biology, combined with my commitment to student success, has enabled me to help students build strong foundational knowledge while encouraging their curiosity and critical thinking skills. I am adept at using diverse teaching methods—including multimedia resources and hands-on experiments—to cater to different learning styles. I also strive to create a classroom atmosphere that is supportive, inclusive, and stimulating. I would be honored to bring my skills, enthusiasm, and dedication to Wiingy. Biology class overview
My Teaching Methods as a Biology Teacher In my two years of experience teaching biology, I use a range of student-centered and research-based methods that make learning engaging, meaningful, and effective. These approaches help students not only understand concepts but also think like scientists: 1. Inquiry-Based & Project-Based Learning I encourage students to ask questions, investigate problems, and design their own experiments rather than just passively receiving information. For example, when learning about ecosystems, I might pose a real-world ecological question and guide students as they formulate hypotheses, collect and analyze data, and draw conclusions. This method builds critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry skills. 2. Use of Multimedia and Technology I integrate videos, simulations, animations, and interactive tools to help students visualize complex processes (e.g., cellular mechanisms or genetics) that cannot be seen easily in the classroom. Technology also includes virtual labs when physical resources are limited. 3. Collaborative & Cooperative Learning Students frequently work in pairs or small groups to solve problems, conduct labs, or engage in discussions. This promotes communication, teamwork, and peer learning—students explain ideas to each other, clarify misunderstandings, and build deeper understanding together. 4. Flipped Classroom & Peer Instruction Elements Before class, I often provide reading, short videos, or simple questions to prepare students. Class time is then spent on discussion, problem solving, and hands-on work. I also use structured peer discussions where students explain or debate key ideas with classmates to reinforce understanding.
