About your spanish tutor
Hello! It's great to meet you. I'm Cesar Gochez. I'm a 2020 UC Santa Barbara undergraduate and 2025 CSU San Marcos Master's in Business graduate. My undergrad studies were in Psychological & Brain Sciences and Communication, and my graduate studies were specialized in data analysis. I have two years of experience tutoring, and counting. I began my tutoring journey with Tutor Me Education, then moved on to working for Study Smart Tutors. Today, I run an ETO STEAM lab at two LAUSD sites where I run an after school VEX IQ robotics and Makerspace engineering club. I have experience tutoring in the following settings: -Middle Schools -High Schools -University -Center-based (ACE Tutoring, San Marcos) -Online -In-home -International Classrooms (TEFL Certified) A bit about me: I was born and raised in El Salvador until the age of nine, and I have been living in California ever since. Spanish is my first language, and I am a big fan of writing - academic essays are one of my strong suits.

Spanish classes highlights
My method for teaching Spanish is to do an initial exam testing basic grammar, vocabulary, and speech skills. This would inform me on where to begin instruction. In my experience, ive found that students/learners are in need of one of two things: 1) Expand their vocabulary 2) Practice speaking If it's vocabulary that is needed, we will start by learning common conjugations, and their exceptions, then move onto learning some less common ones that I still find useful. Verbs are a crucial part of vocabulary expansion, as well as subjects, and transition words. I like to try to find out what setting students anticipate using spanish in, and do my best to adapt the words taught to some that they will use. If I'm working with someone who has a lot of vocabary and just needs help getting to a conversational level, then I help them out by doing a lot of speaking back and forth and listening comprehension tasks. If a student/ learner is at this level, i try to speak Spanish through the majority of the session to give them plenty of practice
