Cheyenne - Violin teacher
Hi! I'm Cheyenne, and I am a Multi-Genre Multi-Instrumentalist. I started out as a classical violinist, and have been teaching all orchestral strings as well as electric bass, drums, vocals, and songwriting for many years. My primary instrument now is cello, but I also play violin, vielle (the medieval violin!), viola da gamba, and electric bass professionally. I have extensive experience with baroque, medieval, rock, pop, folk, and orchestral music. I can help you break genre barriers, get your ear-training on lock, and add versatility. I have taught privately for 11 years, and I teach classroom violin, viola, cello, double bass, and rock bands at El Sistema Oklahoma, which is a free after-school music program in my city for kids in 3rd - 12th grade. In my experience, the key to good musicianship lies in versatility, expressivity and collaboration!

Violin lessons overview
I tailor my methodology to what my student's needs and interests are. For beginners, I use a sound-to-sight method but can also do Suzuki if preferred. For intermediate and advanced students, my approach centers on foundational theory and aural skills, and always incorporates engaging repertoire. I begin by gaining a deep understanding of the individual student's interests and goals. From there, we will develop a step-by-step plan on how to achieve your dreams! My teaching style is fun and creative, and my goal is to make the student feel comfortable enough to begin taking risks and growing! I put a strong emphasis on historical context because I'm a big nerd and I LOVE history! This is especially important in early music styles but I feel that it's important in contemporary styles too. Another important emphasis is gaining comfort and stability in your playing. If you don't feel good in your body when you hold the instrument, or if you feel self conscious in your playing, this is the first barrier we try to break through!
