John Mark - Know your english tutor
Hello everyone! My name is John Mark San Buenaventura, and I’m excited to be your teacher. I am a certified English TEFL teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience, working with learners of all ages from young children to professionals studying Business English. I specialize in vocabulary building, grammar, and pronunciation, helping students communicate clearly and confidently in real life situations. I also support students preparing for international English exams such as TOEIC, TEFL, TESOL, and IELTS, focusing on practical strategies, accuracy, and confidence. In addition, I am knowledgeable in Japanese (JLPT N5) and Korean (Level 1A), which allows me to better understand the challenges of learning a new language and guide students more effectively. My teaching style is friendly, structured, and student-centered. I believe learning should be engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s goals. In my class, mistakes are part of the learning process, and progress big or small is always celebrated. I look forward to learning with you and helping you achieve your language goals!

English classes overview
My teaching methodology is based on the belief that language is meant to be used, not memorized. With over ten years of experience teaching learners from young children to business professionals, I have seen that students improve most when lessons are practical, supportive, and aligned with their goals. I begin by understanding each student’s purpose, strengths, and challenges. This allows me to adjust pacing, materials, and teaching style. I use a student-centered approach, creating flexible lessons where learners feel comfortable, motivated, and confident. Vocabulary-Focused Learning Vocabulary is the foundation of my lessons. Instead of isolated word lists, I teach vocabulary through real-life contexts such as daily conversations, workplace situations, travel, and exams. Practice includes sentence building, guided speaking, role-play, and repetition to make new words usable. Practical Grammar Instruction Grammar is taught clearly and simply, focusing on usage rather than theory. I explain patterns using examples, followed by guided practice and free communication. Mistakes are treated as part of learning, with constructive correction that supports fluency. Pronunciation and Confidence Pronunciation is emphasized to help learners speak clearly and confidently. I focus on sounds, stress, and intonation, prioritizing clarity over perfection. Exam Preparation and Support For students preparing for TOEIC, IELTS, TEFL, or TESOL-related goals, I combine language development with exam strategies such as question analysis and time management. Having studied Japanese (JLPT N5) and Korean (Level 1A), I create a supportive learning environment where progress is encouraged and mistakes are welcomed.
