Piano lessons at a glance
My tutoring approach integrates creativity, fun, theory and engaging ear training for personal enjoyment or even community style playing. I start each learning journey by understanding the student, their skill level, their music goals and their commitment to learning. This allows me to create a customised learning plan for each student. Following this learning plan, each lesson will consist of a new concept or revision of an old concept and an exercise to be completed by the student. Since piano playing is a skill built on hours of personal practice, I provide a regimen and recommended number of hours of practice for each student to complete each week. Students can share progress through videos of their practice sessions. I also utilise a mix of tools like apps and websites to expand the base of knowledge from which we learn and creates an interactive learning experience. I aim to ensure that the student achieve their set learning outcomes and not just breeze through the lessons without any growth all while maintaining their love for the instrument.

The session began with the Student reviewing D, E, and B major scales using both hands on the piano. The main part of the class involved analyzing and practicing chords from a new song's sheet music, focusing on both treble and bass clefs with rhythmic counting. The Tutor assigned the Student to practice playing measures 1-20 of the song with both hands for the next session, along with continued scale practice.
