Mahya - Your piano teacher

Hello, I’m Mahya, a concert pianist and piano teacher with a Master’s degree in Music Performance. I’ve been teaching piano and music theory for nine years and I’m delighted to share my knowledge, experience, and passion for music with my students. I teach children and adults from beginners to advanced levels, and I truly believe that every student is unique. My teaching approach is personalised, supportive, and goal-oriented, meaning each lesson is designed based on the student’s abilities, learning style, interests, and musical goals. Whether you want to play classical repertoire, improve your technique, understand music theory, or simply enjoy playing your favourite songs, I will guide you step by step. My priority is to help you play the piano fluently and confidently, filled with joy and love for music. I focus not only on technique and accuracy, but also on musical expression, confidence-building, and developing a deep connection with the instrument. I create a positive and motivating learning environment where students feel safe to make mistakes, grow, and enjoy the learning process. I believe music should never feel stressful or forced, it should be inspiring, joyful, and empowering. Learning piano is not just about playing notes, but about building discipline, creativity, focus, and emotional expression. If you’re looking for a teacher who is supportive, professional, and genuinely invested in your progress, I would love to work with you and be part of your musical journey. Let’s make music a beautiful and joyful part of your life!

My teaching methodology combines strong technical foundations, musical expression, and personalised student development. I believe every student is unique, so my approach is flexible, student-centred, and adapted to each learner’s level, goals, interests, learning style, and available practice time. I work with multiple international systems, including ABRSM, Trinity College London, RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music – Canada), Russian piano school methods, and European classical pedagogical approaches, integrating their strengths to create a holistic and effective learning experience. Method selection is based on the student’s abilities, motivation, and lifestyle. Some students follow structured academic pathways, while others learn through more flexible, creative, and repertoire-based approaches. My focus is always sustainable progress, enjoyment, and confidence. Technically, I emphasise healthy posture, efficient movement, coordination, finger independence, tone production, and control of touch. Musicality is central to my teaching, including phrasing, expression, interpretation, and emotional communication. Music theory is taught in a practical, applied way through repertoire. I create a supportive learning environment where students feel safe to grow, build confidence, and develop a lifelong connection with music. My philosophy is simple: music education should empower, inspire, and bring joy.
