Dani - Get to know your vocal coach
Dani Mederos is a vocalist, pianist, violist, songwriter, and music producer with a lifelong passion for music. After years of singing at home, performing in shows and choirs, and exploring various instruments, Dani began formal voice and piano training at age 13 under the mentorship of Elisa Girlando and Eric Waldman at Elisa Girlando Studios. Dani has earned numerous accolades, including over a dozen first-place awards in the Mid-Atlantic Music Teachers Guild competitions and a first-place win in Sussex County’s Got Talent. As an independent musician, Dani has continued to perform at local gigs and open mics while deepening skills in live studio recording and music production. In addition to work as a musician, Dani has a strong background in theatre, with roles such as Ursula (The Little Mermaid), Humpty Dumpty (Shrek the Musical), and Mrs. Higgins (Pygmalion), as well as ensemble performances in The Music Man, The Addams Family, Iolanthe, and Alice in Wonderland. Dani was also a member of Sparta High School’s Honors Choir, Freshmen Select Choir, SHAcapella, and Symphony Orchestra, and participated in both County and Regional choirs. While most proficient in voice, piano, and viola, Dani also plays ukulele, guitar, violin, and cello. Music has been the heartbeat of Dani’s life since childhood, and Dani is thrilled to help others discover their own voice and creative expression.

Singing lessons highlights
I focus on motivating my students and building their self-confidence. I also find it important to bring out the inner musician in every student as personality and creativity serve a massive part in building up a musician. I use a mix of traditional methodologies and techniques and more contemporary, human-based techniques that encourage students to focus in on their inner world and emotions in order to channel their voice, both metaphorically and literally. I teach by example, not just explaining techniques and not backing it up with any demonstration. My approach is one that encourages self-expression, confidence, and being curious. I love to answer questions, try different things, and learn to understand each student as an individual. My curriculums change depending on the student's goals, experience level, and comfortability with different parts of the musical process.
