Elsa Sofia Mota is an award-winning soprano and voice teacher based in New York City, specializing in classical, musical theatre, pop/rock, and jazz styles. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Voice with a minor in Theatre from the University of New Mexico, where she developed a strong foundation in vocal performance, pedagogy, and dramatic storytelling. Elsa's performance background includes choral singing, opera, musical theatre, and cabaret-style productions, bringing versatility and real-world experience into her teaching. She has over five years of experience teaching private voice lessons to students ages 8 through adulthood, as well as experience as an elementary music and theatre teacher for grades Pre-K through 6th grade. Additionally, she has worked in an early learning center with children ages 18 months to 3 years, giving her a strong understanding of age-appropriate musical development.

My teaching philosophy centers on vocal pedagogy and mindful technique—understanding the voice as an instrument is essential to mastering it. I guide students through healthy vocal production while emphasizing the theatrical and emotional elements of singing. Students are encouraged to explore not only how to sing, but why they sing, connecting technique, text, and storytelling to develop confident, expressive performers. I utilize a blend of online tools like video conferencing, interactive platforms, and audio resources along with offline methods to create engaging and interactive lessons for students of all levels.
