Miles - Your piano teacher
I started Piano lessons at 6 and quickly received classical training to 12 years old. I have been playing professionally since 14 years old. I have enjoyed a freelance career as a music teacher, composer. performer, recording engineer. producer, and a multi instrumentalist. While being exposed to the intricacies of many styles of music growing up, I have developed a life long passion for studying those different genres.Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of different styles of music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. I think lessons should be about learning but dun also. I feel students should be encouraged so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I'm always looking to bring on new students of all ages! I attended Edward Williams College and Fairleigh Dickenson University where I studied Piano and Guitar, and graduated with an BA Degree in Media Arts

Piano lessons at a glance
I use for teaching Piano is the Piano Adventures series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, which is a great lesson book and a good basic piano method for beginners through intermediate level students. For guitar I use the Hal Leonard Incredible Chord Finder and the Warren Nunes Jazz guitar Rhythm and Background Chords and the Solo Patterns book. Also For both Piano and Guitar I have accumulated many charts and Berklee School of Music pages to use as students start to progress. I will also write out what is covered in the lessons for home study when necessary. I teach improvisation and music theory also.Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs..
