Everyone Can Sing: discover and enhance your voice with an experienced and skilled teacher

My name is Gabriela Comeau Gort and I recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), where I completed a Master of Music in Vocal and Opera Performance. I also hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Ottawa (Canada). While I graduated with degrees in music performance, I am currently working towards returning to education to pursue a teaching qualification. Throughout my past studies, I have taken several courses on pedagogy for children. I am familiar with music education theories such as Dalcroze, Orff, and Kodaly. These courses unlocked my passion for music education. My background is musical theatre and jazz before I decided to pursue opera. I am extremely familiar with vocal techniques that musical theatre and pop requires, and have substantial performing experience in these genres that will transfer into my teaching skills. I also have decent proficiency in instruments, including my Royal Conservatory of Music (Canada) Level 5 in piano. It would be my pleasure to share my love of music with you!

I focus on building confidence through encouragement and motivation. I am an energetic, adaptable, and creative individual because I am a freelance performer myself. I pride myself on using methods that will improve your overall musicality such as pitch/rhythm, harmony, expressivity, and music theory. It sounds overwhelming, but many don’t even realize how much they’ve picked up! I thrive in environments where communication and collaboration is key. I teach all levels, from beginners to advanced singers in classical, opera, musical theatre, jazz, and pop genres. I will provide specialized lessons tailored to your specific wants and needs. It is important you feel comfortable in your music exploration. Whatever your musical goals are, I’m confident we can achieve them together! I truly believe everyone can sing!
