Hello! I am a graduate from the University of Toronto with majors in both linguistics and language teaching and learning. I also completed a Master of Education from York University and am currently in the process of becoming OCT certified through the University of Ottawa's Bachelor of Education program. I have experience working with students of various backgrounds in an online setting in both French and English as a tutor and teacher. I recently taught at a private high school following provincial curriculum and have experience in planning units and lessons to adhere to my student's needs. This includes all aspects of language learning, from explicit grammar rules to pronunciation skills. As a result of this range of topics, I incorporate a variety of teaching approaches in my lessons such as multimedia in the form of video or audio clips, but also interactive games to make the learning more authentic and interesting.

My teaching style is interactive and easy-going where I facilitate the lesson more as a guide and mentor as opposed to a traditional teacher. The reason for this is that each student is individually different and I strive to address these differences while also helping to achieve student goals and needs. This means that my students have a strong say in what they learn and I am very open to accommodate for their needs in this learner-centered approach. Through this style I hope to guide, scaffold, and encourage risk taking that benefits learning in a safe environment. I provide additional support where necessary by preparing detailed and thorough explanations prior to every lesson. This helps fill in any gaps in understanding so that all of my students can achieve a higher level of success and deeper level of learning. I look forward to seeing you in my classes!
