Inspiring Confidence and Skills in Transforming Learners Through Creative ESL Teaching

My name is **Beverly V. Santiago**, and I am a dedicated classroom and ESL teacher with a strong passion for helping students grow in confidence and skill. I use a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of beginners, intermediate, and adult learners in both classroom and ESL settings. One important approach I apply is Communicative Language Teaching, where students practice real-life communication through conversations, role-plays, and discussions to build confidence in using English. I also use Direct Instruction when introducing new concepts, giving clear explanations and modeling examples so students understand step by step. To keep learners engaged, I include Interactive and Game-Based Learning, which encourage participation through pair work, group activities, and educational games. I practice Differentiated Instruction by adjusting lessons based on students’ levels and learning styles, ensuring everyone can follow and succeed. Scaffolding is another key method I use, where I provide support like sentence starters, visuals, or vocabulary guides, then gradually reduce help as students become more independent. I also integrate Task-Based and Content-Based Instruction, allowing students to learn English while completing meaningful tasks or exploring interesting topics. I aim for a student-centered classroom where learners feel supported, motivated, and actively involved in their learning journey.
