Caryn Joy - Know your tutor

Hi, I’m Caryn Joy Saniel, and I’d love to share my journey with you as a Math tutor. Over the past two years, I’ve worked with students of all levels, from Elementary to College, and I’ve learned that every learner has their own way of understanding math. I’ve seen how frustration can turn into confidence when a concept clicks, and I want to help you experience that too. I focus on making lessons engaging and relatable, using math games, problem-solving strategies, and practical examples that connect to real life. I’ve guided students through Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, and more, breaking down difficult topics into simple, understandable steps. Together, we’ll explore mental math techniques, exam strategies, and fun ways to practice, so learning doesn’t feel overwhelming. I also believe every student deserves a supportive and inclusive space, where questions are encouraged and mistakes are part of learning. My goal is not just to teach formulas, but to help you build confidence, think critically, and enjoy math, step by step.

Class overview

When I first started teaching Math, I realized that every student learns differently, and that’s what makes teaching so exciting. Some students grasp concepts quickly through examples, while others need to see things visually or work through problems step by step. Over the years, I’ve learned to adapt my approach to meet each student exactly where they are, turning challenges into opportunities for understanding. In my lessons, I like to bring math to life. Whether it’s through real-world applications, fun problem-solving activities, or exam simulations, I aim to make each session interactive and meaningful. I use tools like Zoom, Google Meet, and interactive whiteboards to make learning dynamic, so students can explore ideas, ask questions, and practice in a hands-on way. I’ve taught students from Elementary to College levels, covering topics from basic arithmetic to Calculus and Probability. What I love most is seeing that moment when a student finally “gets it”—when a difficult concept clicks, confidence grows, and math stops feeling intimidating. I focus on breaking down complex ideas, tailoring lessons to learning styles, and building problem-solving skills, so students feel prepared and capable in every session. For me, teaching is more than sharing formulas it’s about helping students believe in themselves, enjoy the process, and develop skills they can carry beyond the classroom. Every session is a journey, and I’m there to guide, encourage, and celebrate every small victory along the way.
