Thomas - Get to know your vocal coach
I’m Tom Ng, a Berklee-trained songwriter and Warner Music-signed artist with experience teaching and mentoring students at all levels, from complete beginners to developing and professional artists. I’ve worked one-on-one and in group settings, helping students build strong foundations in vocals, guitar, piano, songwriting, and music production. I’ve guided many students as they take their first real steps in music—learning how to practice effectively, understand their instrument or voice, and gain confidence creating and performing. I’ve also supported more advanced students in refining their skills, developing original music, and understanding how music works in a real-world, professional context. My goal as a teacher is to make music feel approachable, motivating, and achievable. I focus on clear communication, encouragement, and steady progress, helping students grow at their own pace while staying inspired and excited about learning music.

Singing lessons highlights
My teaching methodology is student-centered and goal-driven. I start by understanding each student’s background, interests, and goals, then tailor lessons to meet them exactly where they are. This ensures learning feels accessible, relevant, and motivating from the very first session. I break down complex concepts in vocals, instruments, songwriting, and production into simple, practical steps. Lessons combine technique, creativity, and real-world application so students can immediately use what they learn. I focus on steady progress through guided practice, hands-on exercises, and project-based learning. I emphasize confidence, consistency, and creative freedom. Students are encouraged to experiment, ask questions, and develop their own voice while building strong musical fundamentals. My goal is not just to teach skills, but to help students become independent, confident musicians who enjoy the learning process. This methodology works for beginners starting from scratch, as well as intermediate and advanced students looking to refine their craft or move toward professional goals.
