Personalized, test-focused chemistry tutoring from a Queen’s University student for interactive learning

I’m Andrew Tian, a Chemistry tutor with a Bachelor’s degree in science and over a year of experience tutoring high school chemistry. I cover a wide range of topics like acids, bases, pH, periodic table trends, gas laws, electrochemistry, structure, chemical bonding, and chemical reactions. I primarily focus on test and exam preparation, as well as offering personalized learning plans dedicated to each specific student’s needs. My lessons typically online where I use visual learning techniques to enhance understanding, with digital whiteboards and other 3D molecular modeling sites to enhance visualization of chemistry topics. To further enhance learning, I typically focus on identifying key concepts or ideas that students might be struggling with, and usually try to emphasize those subjects by spending more time and using various different approaches to demonstrate them as well as proving practice resources for them.

My tutoring style is exam and test focused where I try and prepare students as best as I can for course assessments. I use lots of technology throughout my lessons by using interactive stimulations, online/practice quizzes and worksheets, as well as other digital resources to enhance learning such as virtual whiteboards. Depending on the needs of the student as well as their course structure, I will create a study plan/tailored curriculum to make sure they are receiving adequate enough help for their classes. My approach is usually one-on-one lessons where I can provide individualized attention and support tailored to each student. Lessons will often involve going over material that the student may struggle with, and working through practice problems together which will allow them to better understand how to approach chemistry problems.
