Collaborative SAT Verbal tutor with adaptable problem-solving methods

My name is Maya, and for the past 4 years, Ive had the rewarding oppourtnity of guiding 170 students on their academic careers. My passion for tutoring stems from a desire to be like my role model as well as help act as a catalyst for young learners growth in understanding the multitude of concepts present in the subject of ESL. Using my background in language for which I have PhD degree from the university of North Carolina, I can provide more than adequate help for ESL, while also offering support in Spanish and AP Spanish Language. Outside of tutoring, I find myself drawn to sports, which I believe fosters a well-rounded perspective that I inculcate into my teaching approach.

As an ESL instructor, my primary goal is to create a helpful and enjoyable learning atmosphere in which students may practice their English abilities. I personalize my teaching method to each students specific requirements and learning style, including conversational activities, vocabulary development exercises, and engaging language games. I strive to develop students speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills via frequent practice and feedback, allowing them to feel more confident in utilizing English in real-life settings. In addition, I give tools and self-study advice outside of our meetings to help reinforce learning and encourage continued development. My purpose is to help students communicate effectively in English and meet their language learning objectives.
