Your biology tutor - Vincent
Bonjour! I’m a French biologist and a UBC PhD in Zoology, living in Vancouver for 8 years. My passion for wildlife has taken me across various biotypes: from snow-tracking mammals in Ontario and studying amphibians in Europe to research with gorillas and elephants in the Congo. My expertise spans all vertebrate groups, with a focus on microbiomes, disease, and ecology in the context of biodiversity conservation. In parallel with my research, I’ve spent a decade mentoring students of all ages—from 5-year-olds to seniors. I teach Biology, Math, Chemistry, Statistics, Physics, and French. My philosophy is simple: connection over coercion. I build friendly, enthusiastic environments where I listen to a student's concerns and design custom, transparent lessons. I use games, crafts, experiments, and drawings to make "tough" subjects fun. Outside the classroom, I’m a soccer player, climber, sailor, and musician who loves cooking. You are all welcome to join my classes!

Biology class overview
With a PhD in Zoology from UBC and years of field research from the Congo to Ontario, I’ve learned that the best way to teach complex science is to make it human. My style is rooted in connection over coercion. I believe that a student’s brain only opens up when they feel safe and heard. I start every journey by building a friendly, enthusiastic environment, listening to a student’s specific concerns—academic or otherwise—to design a transparent, honest roadmap for our lessons. I specialize in "translating" difficult concepts in Biology, Math, Physics, and French into engaging experiences. I replace rigid lectures with creative discovery—using games, experiments, crafts, and drawings to make the material stick. Whether I’m working with a 5-year-old or a senior, I avoid forcing progress; instead, I find the "fun" in the facts. My goal is to turn "tough" subjects into a source of confidence and curiosity. You are all welcome to join my classes!
