About your french tutor
As a Doctorate-educated native speaker with 1 year of professional French teaching experience and a decade of academic mentoring, I am thrilled to offer personalized classes for all levels. My background as a UBC PhD researcher allows me to bring a unique, global perspective to the language, specializing in the nuances of French from France, Canada, and the Congo. I cover a wide range of subjects, including Academic French, Conversational fluency, and French culture immersion. My teaching style is built on a friendly, "no coercion" approach where I design specific lessons using creative tools like games, experiments, and drawings to make learning fun and natural. Whether you need help with pronunciation, homework, or test prep, I am dedicated to creating an enthusiastic environment tailored to your goals. Let’s embark on this language journey together and unlock your full potential in French!

As a scientist and educator, my methodology is built on the belief that learning should be a journey of discovery, not a product of pressure. My approach is rooted in three core pillars: Connection, Transparency, and Creativity. After years of high-level research at UBC and field work across the globe—from snow-tracking in Ontario to studying gorillas in the Congo—I’ve found that even the most complex concepts are best absorbed when a student feels a genuine human connection to their mentor. I prioritize building a safe, non-judgmental environment. My style is strictly non-coercive; I never force a lesson. Instead, I create an enthusiastic atmosphere where the student is invited into a collaborative process. When the fear of failure is removed, curiosity takes its place. I replace rigid lectures with hands-on engagement. Drawing from my life as a musician and athlete, I incorporate: Visual Learning: Using drawings and crafts to map out complex biological systems or French sentence structures. Gamification: Transforming math problems and vocabulary drills into interactive games. Experiments: Bringing the scientific method to life to spark wonder in students of all ages.
