My name is Donovin O'Meara. I am an experienced online piano tutor offering personalized piano lessons. I have been teaching for over 2 years now and I have played piano for 14 years. I specialize in chord theory, music theory (fundamentals), and song composition. I teach all ages and all experience levels a new, contemporary curriculum in accordance with each student's goals and learning preferences. My journey with music centers mostly around song writing. I love making music, writing songs with meaningful lyrics and creative melodies using applied chord theory and ear training. My hope is to meet aspiring musicians where they are and help them grow their skills and talents. I believe every body learns differently and there is nothing I value more than a students individuality. The teaching I offer is completely personalized and individual to a students goal!

I approach teaching with empathy and consideration for each person's goals, availability, and experience. Individuality is the where potential is found and nurtured. I always begin teaching by asking the student what they want to get out of learning piano—do they want to be a concert pianist? Learn their favorite songs as a hobby? Be part of a band? Learn how to compose their own music? Learning this helps me create the best routines and topics to teach them. As a teacher, my job isn't to create another Beethoven—it's to help my students find their sound and grow into musicianship however it may look for them. No one learns the same way as any body else, so it's important for me to meet students where they are adapt my teaching to meet their needs above anything else. Another thing I appreciate, for kids, is their parent's involvement. I think accountability and open communications are key to successful and fruitful learning.
