Welcome! My approach to piano instruction is built on the core belief that music is a highly personal journey—one that requires a solid technical foundation, yet truly flourishes when given creative freedom. Whether a student is touching the keys for the first time, an adult fulfilling a lifelong dream, or an advanced player preparing for a rigorous conservatory exam, my goal as an educator is to cultivate a deep, enduring passion for music. I strive to create an inclusive, engaging, and highly adaptable environment that meets every student exactly where they are. The Foundation: Classical Technique and Comprehensive Literacy At the center of my methodology is a strong emphasis on classical technique and sight-reading. I believe that understanding the mechanics of playing—proper posture, hand position, and finger dexterity—prevents injury and unlocks a pianist's true expressive potential. Sight-reading is equally critical; fluency in reading sheet music empowers students to learn independently and explore vast libraries of repertoire with confidence. However, a well-rounded musician needs more than just sheet music to thrive in today's musical landscape. I actively integrate ear training and playing by ear into my curriculum. This allows students to internalize pitch, understand harmony intuitively, and seamlessly transition into playing modern music. Teaching contemporary styles alongside classical pieces keeps students highly motivated and shows them that the techniques they learn are universal tools for any genre.
