Piano concepts taught by Rosie

Student learned 21 days ago

The student and tutor covered music theory concepts including note values (whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes) and key signatures. The student practiced rhythm exercises and sight-reading. They began exploring Moonlight Sonata, focusing on identifying notes, understanding dynamics, and playing the initial chords. The student will receive an exercise on music theory.net.

The student practiced note identification in both treble and bass clef and related these notes to the piano keyboard. The student was also introduced to accidentals (sharps and flats) and practiced playing these notes. Proper piano posture and the function of the sustain pedal were discussed, and the tutor assigned practice exercises on music theory.net, focusing on translating notes on the screen to the keyboard and prepared to begin working on Moonlight Sonata in the next lesson.
