Keneth - Your piano teacher
Hi, my name is Keneth. I’m originally from Honduras and I’m currently living in Canada. I have been playing piano for many years, and I also play bass and guitar. Music has always been a big part of my life, and I enjoy helping beginners learn in a simple, patient, and friendly way. My teaching style is relaxed but clear. I like to focus on the basics first, learning Middle C, understanding how the keyboard is divided, building major and minor chords, and practicing good hand position. I also teach students how to count rhythm and use a metronome, because timing is one of the most important skills in music. I believe every student learns at a different pace, so I always try to explain things calmly and make the lessons enjoyable. Whether someone wants to learn their first song, understand music theory, or improve their technique, I guide them step by step.

My teaching methodology is structured, clear, and focused on building strong habits from the first lesson. I keep a friendly and encouraging atmosphere, but I am also strict with technique, timing, and consistency, because I believe that discipline is what truly helps students grow. I explain every concept step by step and make sure the student fully understands before we move on. I start with the basics: proper hand position, posture, finger strength, and clean transitions between notes and chords. I also introduce the metronome early, because learning to stay in time is one of the most important skills for any musician. As students progress, I guide them through scales, chord patterns, simple songs, and later more complex pieces, always adapting the lesson to their level and goals. Even though I push my students to improve every week, I stay patient, positive, and supportive. I want every student to feel motivated, confident, and proud of their progress.

Piano concepts taught by Keneth
Student and Tutor engaged in a piano lesson, reviewing existing pieces such as a sonata, a finger exercise, and a Bruno Mars song. They focused on improving rhythm, especially for off-beat sections, and correcting sustain pedal technique. A new song, "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys, was introduced, and they discussed harmonic circles, particularly the application of diminished chords for the seventh degree of major scales.

Improving Rhythmic Precision and Timing
The Student and Tutor practiced piano pieces and technical exercises, including a sonata, right-hand and left-hand exercises, and the song "Talking to the Moon," with significant attention paid to timing and proper pedal technique. They also reviewed harmonic chords as homework, focusing on the rule for diminished chords within major scales. The Student was assigned to continue practicing the exercises at target tempos and apply the pedal and harmonic chord rules.

Rhythmic Precision & Metronome Use
The Student and Tutor practiced a piano exercise and a song, receiving feedback on technique and accuracy. The core of the session focused on music theory, specifically identifying correct major, minor, and diminished chords within various major scales (C through B) as part of the harmonic circles concept. For homework, the Student is assigned to practice playing all chords for each scale quickly (around 90 bpm) to internalize the progressions, and to practice the earlier exercise at 120 bpm with the left hand.

Musical Preparation and Focus
Student and Tutor worked on piano pieces, including a sonata and the Bruno Mars song "Talking to the Moon." They focused on improving chord transitions, introducing new structural sections like a "preparation to verse two" and a "bridge," and refining pedal technique for connected phrasing. The Student was assigned to practice these sections for a follow-up session planned for earlier in the next week.
