Katie - Get to know your vocal coach
Hello! My name is Katie Schram and I am an educated performer and singing tutor from Vancouver, Canada. It's wonderful to meet you. I have been teaching for 7+ years and have performed in musicals and cabarets across Canada for most of my life. I would be thrilled to help you along your singing journey, wherever you may be! My specialties include beginner lessons, musical theatre and storytelling, building confidence, and breathwork. With my positive and engaging teaching style, my top priority is to create a space where you feel the freedom to have fun and explore your voice fully. Together can discuss your goals, emphasize classical singing technique and traditional breathwork, and leave you with enhanced skills and the confidence to sing proud! Whether you're looking to hit that high note or belt out a rock tune, we will make it happen. My students are currently singing all over, from the stage and screen to campfire sing-alongs. I look forward to singing with you!
Katie graduated from Studio 58 at Langara College

Singing lessons highlights
I begin each session by asking a few questions to get to know you and understand your history with singing. This is to learn what you know and figure out how we can best use your time. I am a patient and positive teacher. If you get it right on the first try- amazing! You're quicker than I am! You're doing a brave thing by committing to a singing lesson, and I want to make sure you get the most out of your session. This includes feeling comfortable, confident, an maintaining a positive headspace. I like to run you through some vocal exercises to get an understanding of your range, and then run through some vocal anatomy so that you can understand the physical functions of the vibrations you're feeling when you sing. This will help you to think of singing as a skill to develop, and not something intangible. I work with practicality and kindness, encouraging you out of your comfort zone and giving you the freedom to look and sound as silly as you need to, to get to where you want to go.
