Aisha - Know your tutor
Hi! I’m Aisha, a dedicated tutor with over five years of experience helping students build confidence and succeed in math. I recently started my Master’s in Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, where I also earned my Bachelor’s degree with distinction. I love making math clear, approachable, and enjoyable for every student by using patience, real-life examples, and personalized guidance to help each learner reach their full potential. My journey through one of Canada’s most challenging engineering programs has given me a deep appreciation for how math and science connect to the real world and that’s exactly the perspective I bring into my tutoring sessions. Over the past five years, I’ve worked with students at the middle school, high school, and University levels, helping them build confidence and improve their performance in Calculus I - IV, Trigonometry, Algebra, Chemistry, and Statistics. Whether you’re aiming to boost your grades, prepare for a big test, or just make sense of tough topics, I tailor each lesson to your unique learning style and goals. I know that no two students are the same, some need step-by-step walkthroughs, others need big-picture explanations, and many just need someone patient enough to listen and guide them through the logic. That’s where I come in. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your math foundations, prepare for a big test, or get ahead in your coursework, I’ll meet you where you are and help you reach your goals.

Class overview
My teaching focuses on clarity, understanding, and helping students feel capable in the subject. Before each session, I provide students with guided notes that highlight key concepts and examples, so they can review the material ahead of time and come ready with questions. During lessons, I use clear explanations, diagrams, and real-world examples to make abstract ideas easier to understand and more relatable. I also believe that practice is one of the best ways to learn, so I include a variety of problems throughout each session to help students apply concepts on their own. After each lesson, I share additional online resources and extra practice questions tailored to each student’s needs. This helps them continue strengthening their understanding between sessions. My goal is to create a supportive and structured learning environment where students not only improve their grades but also develop a strong grasp of the material.

Mathematics concepts taught by Aisha
The Student reviewed geometry concepts, including parallel lines and planes, opposite rays, coplanar points, and intersections of lines and planes, to prepare for an upcoming final exam. They practiced identifying geometric relationships in diagrams. The tutor will prepare review questions for future sessions, focusing on topics covered in the final exam.
Naming Planes
Concurrent vs. Intersecting Lines
Midpoint and Segment Relationships
Intersection of Planes and Lines
Coplanar Points
Opposite Rays
Parallel Lines and Planes
The session focused on sigma notation, summation rules, and u-substitution in integration. The student practiced applying summation rules to simplify and evaluate expressions. An introduction to integration by parts was also provided, and the student was encouraged to share notes for the next session to tailor future lessons.
U-Substitution for Integration
Definite Integrals and Changing Bounds
Integration by Parts
Sigma Notation and Summation Rules
The session covered related rates problems, focusing on setting up and solving various examples involving geometric shapes. The Student practiced finding equations relating different quantities and using derivatives to find rates of change. The Tutor will send a PDF of the questions covered, and the next session will focus on sigma notation and integrals.
