Music lessons for voice and piano and developing an all-rounded musician of any age or genre

I studied music all my life mostly independently and now I am teaching all the knowledge, tips and tricks I wish I had someone teach me. I cover the following for voice and piano Music theory: - tempo, duration, rhythm - pitch and melody - harmony and chords - timbre, tessitura and colour - shape and form Classical repertoire (Tenor) - Typical tenor style and why I don't recommend it - Soprano style for men - Falsetto and it's lower range World music - Indian music and Bollywood - Greek folk, laika and rembetika - Jewish folk, Yiddish and cantorial Across these I can - develop bespoke curriculum - teach on specific requirements from ABRSM, Trinity, GCSE and IB - help making musical choices - prepare for performances - tutor on exam materials - coach on integrating tech - help with singer-songwriter musical identity

My teaching methodology builds a solid theoretical foundation not in an of itself as many courses teach but in relation to musical needs so that each element is not only understood but also appreciated and immediately useful. So, I constantly move between theory, notation and practice, developing an overall musicianship before going into details. I also help students discover themselves musically and make the right choices as we explore various repertoires and styles. I then coach and encourage students to make music real either through performing in public in open mics, parties, karaokes, gigs and also to compose and create their own music. I also explore what it means to be a musician in this day and age, the impact of technology on vocal technique, the singer-songwriter personality, market competition, artificial intelligence and other contemporary issues, circling back to what we study and why.
