Your biology tutor - Nadia

Hey! I'm Nadia and I'm currently working towards an MRes in Cancer Biology. I have been a an online tutor for over 4 years, focusing on tutoring SEND and SEMH students, especially those who are non-verbal. I work with the Local Authority, tutoring students who can no longer attend mainstream but haven't got a place in a special school yet and I find it the most rewarding work! I specialise in personalised lessons, test-prep strategies and taking the lesson content right back to basics to building confidence. I work with KS3 and GCSE Science students, so I also teach Chemistry and Physics where needed. I ensure students grasp the content and have answered questions on the topic before moving on, I embed lots of exam technique and revision skills into my lessons to ensure understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me 😊

Biology class overview

My tutoring approach is very collaborative, ensuring students are engaged with the lesson content by answering questions and encouraging curiosity within the session. I love it when students take and interest and ask their own questions, even if it's not related to the exact lesson! I try to make my lessons as engaging and supportive as possible. I give student plenty of thinking time and often to get them to write down answers to allow as much processing time as they need. I will adjust pace for the student and will not move on until we're both confident with the content. I make use of online resources, such as virtual labs and simulations if students are in need of practical help. I also embed games within the lessons as much as possible. Since starting tutoring in 2021, I have taught over 200 lessons online and enjoyed every single one of them. I think online tutoring allows students to access learning who would otherwise miss out, and that is important.
