Howdy! My name is Irah Salo, I'm an experienced guitar player/tutor. I have over 10+ years of performance experience and nearly 5 years of tutoring experience. I specialize in personalized one on one lessons driven by student's interests and utilizing music they already love to learn everything they need to succeed. I studied music performance and theory from a young age, honing my craft while attending Canterbury Arts, and Fanshawe College where I obtained my degree in Music Industry Arts. Having taught myself Guitar throughout High school and College, my teaching style favors learning guitar and music principles through interrogating what music students are passionate about, and using that initial drive as a jumping off point for deeper understanding. My teaching style prioritizes the student's needs and interests first. Having taught myself Guitar when I began, I came to understand very quickly that where lessons had failed previously was in giving me a reason to follow my passion for guitar beyond simple technical know-how. By centering the music I loved first, I was able to learn what I needed as it came to me. Before I knew it, I'd learned more than I'd even thought possible upon picking up my first Guitar. I aim to get to know student's musical passions first, before building a framework for better understanding. Want to strum along to your favorite Taylor Swift song?
