Anthony - Know your guitar teacher
Hi, my name is Anthony Nieves. I am a diploma holder of an associates degree from BMCC and I am currently reaching for my bachelors and masters at the city College of New York. Along with teaching experience of over a year! I honestly wouldn’t know where I would be without music. I can’t imagine life without it. My goal is to be able to spread that same joy and passion for others to pave their own path whether it’s music or something in the arts or even just in normal life and give someone something to look forward to! My specialties include chord progressions, music theory chord voicings and scales. I teach guitar for anything jazz/pop related. I give lessons to beginner and intermediate players, kids, adults etc. from being able to play a basic scale to playing complex chords, I’ll make sure that you get the best out of learning for me while also making it fun! Let’s make these lessons the most fun, hip lessons you’ll ever have!

Guitar lessons quick guide
My approach to teaching guitar is broken down into a couple of steps. Step one will be technique since without technique, It’ll be hard to apply anything on the guitar. Step two is theory, specifically music theory and how the things that make music what it is, connect really easily. Step three is applying that technique with the theory in practice such as exercises or études! Finally, step four would be to use it within a real world setting such as analyzing a song or coming up with one using those tools. I’ll teach all these steps little by little, yet very intensely. I do all this to have my students think critically about what they’re doing musically while also having fun doing it giving them their own sense of creativity. Since afterwards, you can use your newfound knowledge to create other things. I’ve used this style of teaching for a small group of students. Now I’m looking to expand on that with beginners adults, intermediate players, and children. I can’t wait to use these tools to help teach my students and help them grow as people and musicians!
